Join Us at FiCS 2025: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture Through Public Development Banks

Join us at the 5th Finance in Common Summit (FiCS), co-hosted by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) with the support of The Agence Française de Développement (AFD). We will contribute to key discussions on the role of Public Development Banks (PDBs) in sustainable agriculture and food systems transformation through a breakout session and two side events.

Our Sessions at FiCS 2025

📢 Breakout Session | 28 February | 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
🔹 “Sustainable Food Systems, Global Challenges: The Catalytic Role of National PDBs”
Co-organized with UNEP FI, this session will explore how PDBs can drive sustainability in food systems. It will address shared challenges, including green and inclusive Finance, agroecology, rural finance inclusion, the role of PDBs in nutrition-sensitive projects, climate adaptation and resilience, smallholder farmer engagement, and income resilience.

📢 Side Event | 27 February | 8:00 – 9:00 AM
🔹 “Fostering Collaboration Between International, Regional, and Local PDBs to Advance Sustainable Food Systems”
Jointly organized by IFAD, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and ECDPM, this session will explore challenges and opportunities in fostering collaboration between DFIs and PDBs at the international, regional, and local levels. It will highlight best practices and key recommendations to enhance PDBs’ collective impact, helping to close the food-financing gap and advance sustainable food systems. Special focus will be given to the articulation between the G7 Collaborative for Sustainable Food Systems and the AgriPDB Platform.

📢 Closed-Door Meeting | 27 February | 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM
🔹 “Meeting of the Members of the FiCS Coalition for Sustainable and Inclusive Food Systems”
and concluded by IFAD AVP Federica Diamanti, this will be the first in-person meeting of the FiCS Agriculture Coalition. It marks a strategic milestone for PDBs, providing an opportunity to reinforce collaboration, strengthen partnerships with global financial institutions, governments, and development partners, mobilize resources, and align priorities for financing sustainable food systems.
