The Agri-PDB Platform is the Coalition of Public Development Banks for Green and Inclusive Food Systems of the global networks Finance in Common and of UN Food Systems
The Agricultural Public Development Bank Platform brings together global finance and sustainable development expertise to enhance the capacities of national, regional, and international public development banks. IFAD and AFD facilitate the Finance in Common Agriculture Coalition and the Coalition for Green & Inclusive Food Systems from the UN Food Systems.
The Platform assists Agri-PDBs in financing green, inclusive and sustainable transitions. As such, the platform promotes the sharing of experience, peer-to-peer, technical expertise and training.
“PDBs play a major role in the global economy. They have immense financial power — $23.2 trillion in assets and up to $1.4 trillion in annual investments."
Dr. Alvaro Lario, President, IFAD
"We strongly appreciate and support the Agri-PDB Platform’s work in advancing key innovations within Public Development Banks across different countries. By addressing climate adaptation and rural financial inclusion, this platform is not just about networking—it’s about real impact, fostering technical assistance and peer-to-peer collaboration that strengthens the role of PDBs globally."
Adolfo Alonso Cires, Investment Manager, European Commission DG INTPA
"The importance of coalitions is to mobilize funds and create investment opportunities, where there is a greater convergence in financing models to support development goals."
“On the climate, public development banks must make themselves heard on the global stage”
Adama Mariko, Secretary General - Finance in Common, AFD
"PDBs have a mandate to the poorest and the most vulnerable. AFD has been supporting PDBs for many years, actually for over 80 years since its creation."
Agri-PDBs partner with farmers' organizations, research institutions, development organizations, central banks, and SMEs to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development. They work together to boost smallholder farmers' economic growth, improve food security, and increase food security.
